Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor, most famous for his role as the star of the popular TV show 'Law & Order Special Victims Unit. Meloni discovered his passion for acting from his days in the college classroom and then studied acting at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has been in the television and film industry, but it was his smaller-screen roles that brought him fame and a large audience. He has the ability to portray two characters, one from the perspective of police officers and different. This is what makes him so popular. He portrayed the role of a serial killer in his debut television show but later went on to play the role as an NYPD detective. His performances on small screens were rewarded with numerous Emmy Awards nominations and PRISM Awards. The most appealing feature of his face is believed to be his piercing blue eyes. They are believed as a signature and have aided in depicting the rough and savage characters with a sense of humour. People's magazine listed him as one of the Sexiest Men Alive for 2006.
