Cindy Crawford

Cynthia Ann Crawford was born on the 20th of February, 1966. She is an American model, actress and TV personality. Through the 1990s and the 1980s she was among the most popular supermodels and an omnipresent presence on runways and magazine covers as well as on fashion shows. Later, she ventured into acting and launched a company. Crawford received a phone call during her sophomore year by a local clothes shop to do modeling. But, it was viewed as an ill-informed joke made by two of her peers. Crawford was hired by another store the next year to model for them. They also had a fashion shoot. In her junior year, local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included photographing a different college student to be that week's coed for the DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to shoot her photo for the publication; the result was her first cover. The picture as well as the positive comments she received were enough to encourage her to begin modeling. Initially, she worked with an agency that was small, and was bought by Elite Model Management shortly after she signed. She participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest in 1983 at age 17 and made it to the national finals.
