Hudson was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, an actor comedian, actor and musician.Her parents divorced at the age of 18 months. old and she and her older brother who was an actor, Oliver Hudson, were raised in Snowmass, Colorado, and Pacific Palisades, California by the mother of her and her long-time lover, actor Kurt Russell.Hudson's origins are Italian (from her maternal grandmother), Hungarian Jewish (from her maternal grandmother),and the rest of her family is a mix of English and some German.She was raised Jewish as was her mother she also practice Buddhism.Hudson has stated that her biological father "doesn't know her from a crack in the wall", and she considers Russell as her father.Hudson has said that her mother is "the woman that I've learned the most from, and who I look up to as someone who's led her life in a way that I can aspire to". There are four half-siblings, namely Emily Hudson and Zachary Hudson, from her biological father's later marriage with actress Cindy Williams; Lalania Hudson who was the result of his relationship with another woman;[15] as well as Wyatt Russell, from her mother's romance with Kurt Russell.In 1997 Hudson graduated from Crossroads the college preparatory school in Santa Monica. She was admitted to New York University but decided to pursue acting instead of a degree.
